Growing Green While Going Green at SD Hydro

At San Diego Hydroponics & Organics, we take environmental awareness to heart. As a business, it is important to be conscious of the footprint we leave upon the Earth. April 22nd is Earth Day, and in support of this cause, SD Hydro is making an increased effort to go green and lessen the impact we have on our eco system.

Over the past several months, San Diego Hydroponics & Organics has been phasing out non-recyclable materials and toxic cleaning products. We have replaced paper bags, plastic bags, paper towels and toilet paper with post consumer recycled material. We have replaced chemical cleaners with biodegradable “green” formulas that are gentler on the environment. Our most recent change is providing our customers with compostable drinking cups made from corn oil. We are hoping to set a positive example for our community with our commitment to going green!

April is a busy month for SD Hydro and we are excited about the many fun events we have planned. In celebration of Earth Day, starting Friday 4/20 and running until Sunday 4/22, we are having a countywide sale offering up to 30% off all inventory. It is a great time to stock up on the gear you need to make your garden grow, while conserving that green in your wallet. So tell a friend, tell a few, and head down to our Earth Day weekend sale for big savings at your favorite SD Hydro store!

On Earth Day weekend we will also be out and about in the community supporting the music and arts, as well as supporting eco consciousness. We are kicking off the weekend as the presenting sponsor of the seedleSs 12th annual 4/20 concert! This year, SD Hydro, seedleSs Clothing and Rock Hill Entertainment are bringing the original line up of the Living Legends to the House of Blues San Diego. This all-star line up of legendary underground hip-hop is not to be missed. With world-renowned reggae artist Johnny Osbourne and dub step DJ 6BLOCC as opening artists, this 4/20 show is bound to be blazing! Tickets to the show are available at all SD Hydro locations, so be sure to pick yours up before it sells out.

To add yet some more greenery to the weekend, SD Hydro is gearing up for the 23rd annual Earth Day celebration at Balboa Park. This year SD Hydro will have a booth at the World Beat Center stage where you can check out local companies, earth friendly products, and multi-cultural crafts while listening live reggae music. We will be giving away free raffle tickets for a chance to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers live in concert. We will also be displaying some small-scale sustainable garden demos to inspire San Diegans to get their gardens growing. Earth Day at Balboa Park is a fun and educational event that the whole family can enjoy, so come introduce your family to ours for an Earth friendly good time!

San Diego Hydroponics & Organics strongly advocates environmental consciousness. Starting an organic veggie garden is one simple step that every individual can make on the path towards sustainability. SD Hydro is here to help educate, motivate and be a positive role model in the progression towards “green” living. We hope you will join us this April at one of our several events to support this cause!
