Vermiculite

Vermiculite: Mica which has been processed and expanded by heat. Vermiculite has excellent water-retention qualities and is a good soil amendment and medium for rooting cuttings.

Vitamins

Vitamins: Sweet contains thiamine, riboflavin, pyridoxine, niacin, and B-complex vitamins derived from fermented yeast extracts. They are cofactors that bond to enzymes producing a catalyst effect on carbohydrate metabolism and biosynthesis of proteins and nucleic acids.

Wick

Wick: Part of a passive hydroponic system using a wick suspended in the nutrient solution. The nutrients pass up the wick and are absorbed by the medium and roots.

Zinc Nitrate

Zinc Nitrate: source of zinc and nitrogen; also serves as a setting agent to dye something, helping to form an insoluble compound with the dye. Nitrogen is needed for proteins, enzymes and all metabolic processes involved in the synthesis and transfer of plant energy. Nitrogen is part of all living cells and is part of chlorophyll which is the green pigment in plants that makes photosynthesis occur. Nitrogen aids in rapid growth, seed and fruit production, and promotes lush leaves. Zinc aids in carbohydrate transformation and also regulates the consumption of sugar in the plant. Along with manganese and magnesium, zinc promotes all the same enzymatic functions. Zinc also aids in chlorophyll production.

Zinc Sulfate

Zinc Sulfate: a source of zinc which aids in carbohydrate transformation and also regulates the consumption of sugar in the plant. Along with manganese and magnesium, zinc promotes all the same enzymatic functions. Zinc also aids in chlorophyll production. Also a source of sulfur that helps to produce proteins as well as stimulating the activity and

Sulfur

Sulfur: aids in the production of proteins as well as stimulating the activity and development of vitamins and enzymes. Vigorous plant growth, healthy root zones, a tolerance to cold weather and the formation of Chlorophyll all occur due to sulfur. Sulfate, a form of sulfur helps to buffer PH in water.

Systemic

Systemic: Used in reference to a disease within the plant tissue, not initiated from the external cells. Also refers to materials and compounds which are taken up or absorbed by the plant and designed to fight disease (e.g. systemic fungicide).

Thiamine

Thiamine: or B1 is responsible for vigorous growth, carbohydrate metabolism, and stress relief. Some sources have reported thiamine to act as a mild insect repellent.
